DLA Piper strengthens its Finance practice with Ignacio Delpino

By Heidi Maldonado

FOR Piper welcomed Ignacio Delpino as a partner in the firm’s Finance practice, further expanding the capabilities of its Chile office.

Delpino has over 15 years of experience in banking and capital markets, most recently serving as general counsel and secretary to the board of directors at Banco Security. He focuses on structured, bilateral, and syndicated financing, domestic and cross-border capital markets, derivatives and ISDA documentation, as well as complex banking and financial regulatory advice. In particular, he has advised on LIBOR transition, financial portability, fintech regulation, derivatives, treasury matters, and multi-stakeholder collaborations with regulators and internal and external legal counsel.

Deepening the firm’s cross-practice capabilities, Delpino will work with financial institutions, funds, and insurers around the world, support existing clients, and collaborate with colleagues in finance-related areas such as projects and energy, corporations/mergers and acquisitions, insurance, and disputes.

“As the impacts of globalization continue to transform the way companies invest, expand, and manage risk across borders, and as Latin America plays an increasingly critical role in that interconnected landscape, our clients seek advice that understands and is deeply familiar with the changing state of business,” he said. Francisco J. Cerezo, President of the firm’s US-Latin America practice. “Ignacio’s experience will help clients address complex financing and banking issues, including those operating across multiple borders.”

“We are pleased to welcome Ignacio Delpino to our team in Chile. His market perspective and extensive experience in structured finance, capital markets, and regulation

banking complement our current practice and position us to offer even greater support to clients navigating complex financial transactions in Chile and throughout the region,” said Matías Zegers, managing partner of the firm’s Chile office.

Delpino’s arrival follows the recent addition to DLA Piper of  Macarena Gatica to his office in Chile, where he advises on data protection, cybersecurity, and technology law for clients in various sectors, including finance. These hires underscore the firm’s continued investment in its integrated and cross-functional capabilities and its growth throughout Latin America.
