Cescon Barrieu announced the arrival of Julia Santoro as a partner in the Insurance practice. This appointment is part of a deliberate expansion strategy: by 2026, the firm had already added 19 partners in key practice areas—Tax, Corporate and M&A, Banking and Finance, Technology, and now, Insurance—bringing its total number of partners to 85. Julia joins the firm with a team of three lawyers.
“Cescon Barrieu is building one of the largest full-service legal platforms in Brazil. Julia’s arrival is not an isolated move; it is another piece of a clear growth strategy that, this year alone, has added 19 partners to the firm. The Insurance area directly complements our Financial Services and Infrastructure practices and positions us to serve, in depth, the entire business chain of our clients,” stated Alexandre Barreto , managing partner of Cescon Barrieu.
More from Julia Santoro
Julia brings over two decades of experience in regulatory, corporate, and transactional operations in the insurance sector. Her practice encompasses the structuring and authorization of insurers, reinsurers, brokerages, and insurtechs, as well as M&A, product development, distribution, reinsurance and retrocession, complex claims regulation, and innovation projects.
The hiring process reflects a market undergoing profound transformation. With the enactment of Law No. 15,040, accelerated digitalization, and revenues of R$ 244.96 billion in the first half of the year—in addition to technical provisions of approximately R$ 2.2 trillion—the insurance sector demands increasingly sophisticated and integrated legal advice.
The Insurance area now operates in direct connection with the Financial Services, Infrastructure, Technology, Corporate, M&A and Litigation practices, expanding the firm’s ability to handle multidisciplinary demands from start to finish.
