Andersen has appointed Pedro de la Iglesia as a partner in its Tax department at its Madrid office. His arrival strengthens the department’s specialization in Financial Sector Taxation and boosts the development of the Operational Tax area, which is increasingly strategic for banks, capital markets, and insurance companies, among other financial market players. Joining the new Andersen partner is Ana María Castaño, who joins the team as Director. Ana María has extensive experience in this area of specialization.
José Vicente Morote, managing partner of Andersen Iberia, stated that “Pedro’s appointment aligns with our growth strategy based on hyper-specialization, bringing in renowned professionals in fields that are redefining the needs of regulated entities in the financial sector.” He added that “his industry knowledge, combined with his ability to integrate taxation, regulation, processes, and technology, allows us to offer a distinctive response to increasingly complex challenges.”
A graduate in Law and Business Administration from the Pontifical University Comillas ICAI-ICADE, Pedro de la Iglesia has nearly 30 years of experience leading transformation and adaptation projects for financial institutions to new regulatory and tax requirements. His expertise encompasses international taxation, investments and divestments, financing, financial products, asset management, custody, private banking, capital markets, and insurance. He also brings experience in Operational Taxation, a discipline for which he has gained widespread recognition in the market, as it requires teams capable of coordinating tax knowledge, business acumen, operations, and technology, and of translating regulatory requirements into actionable solutions.
On the occasion of his joining, Borja de Gabriel and Pablo Gómez-Acebo, Partners and co-directors of the Tax department at Andersen Iberia, stated that “Pedro brings a particularly valuable profile: a comprehensive understanding of the tax challenges facing the financial sector and a distinctive specialization at the intersection of taxation, regulation, operations, and technology. His addition strengthens our ability to support institutions both in providing technical advice and in the effective implementation of new requirements.”
