Hogan Lovells Cadwalader announced on July 1 the launch of the combined firm following the merger between Hogan Lovells and Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft. The union creates a new force in the legal market: an unparalleled global platform serving clients at the intersection of business, finance, and public administration.

“The launch of Hogan Lovells Cadwalader marks a pivotal moment for both of our firms, uniting two iconic institutions with a long history of excellence in the legal sector,” said Miguel Zaldivar, CEO of Hogan Lovells Cadwalader. “We are building on these strengths with a keen eye to the evolving needs of our clients, who are increasingly seeking advisors to help them manage their most complex matters in the leading G20 economies.”

He added, “As we have moved toward this historic combination, what has stood out throughout this process is our shared ambition to deliver exceptional client service in a constantly evolving legal landscape, attracting and developing the best legal talent, and through a commitment to innovation and digital transformation. We are creating a firm like no other, combining the oldest law firm on Wall Street with deep sector expertise to advise clients on the transformative trends shaping the global economy, including the Future of Digitalization and the Future of Energy,” Zaldivar stated.

Meanwhile, Patrick Quinn, Global Managing Partner for Client and Practice Integration at Hogan Lovells Cadwalader, noted that “the preparations for our first day have highlighted the importance of our compatible culture to the success of this combination.” He added, “We have taken a thoughtful approach to integrating practices and clients to ensure that, from Day One, our clients fully benefit from the new platform we have created.”

Wesley Misson, Global Managing Partner for the Finance Practice at Hogan Lovells Cadwalader, added, “Capital moves markets and drives the companies, technologies, and infrastructure that define what comes next. Our unparalleled global platform, with world-class practices based in major financial centers, is designed to connect clients deploying capital with the funds and companies that need it to innovate, expand, and compete.”

A legal market in the process of consolidation

Hogan Lovells Cadwalader is being presented as the largest law firm merger in history, with more than 3,200 lawyers across the Americas, EMEA, and APAC. Deliberately balanced across key G20 practices, sectors, and markets, the firm combines leading practices in M&A, regulatory, intellectual property, and litigation with world-class capabilities in finance, structured products, and capital markets. The firm’s five growth engines are now London, Washington, D.C., New York, Germany, and FRIS (France, Italy, and Spain).

Following the approval of the partnership in April, the firms mobilized cross-functional teams to support a smooth launch of the combined firm.

The firm’s client base includes many of the world’s leading financial institutions, multinational corporations, private equity firms, governments, sovereign entities, and companies operating in highly regulated sectors.

From complex transactions to regulatory changes and high-stakes litigation, Hogan Lovells Cadwalader is positioned to address the full spectrum of its clients’ legal needs. Its strength in highly regulated sectors enables the firm’s lawyers to help clients anticipate challenges, capitalize on opportunities, and achieve meaningful results.

Hogan Lovells Cadwalader will continue to invest in priority markets, practices, talent and technology, including AI and other tools that support clients in complex cross-border work.
