Snell & Wilmer announced the opening of an office in Mexico City with the addition of a new team of lawyers. The launch builds on Snell & Wilmer’s long track record of advising companies and investors operating in Mexico and marks the firm’s second office in the country, following the opening of its Los Cabos office in 2008.
Partners José I. Rivero, Jacinto Ávalos, Alfredo Chávez and Luis Enrique Cervantes join the firm along with a group of associates, bringing extensive experience in corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions, real estate law and labor law.
“We are thrilled to welcome this outstanding team to establish our office in Mexico City and expand our capabilities in Latin America,” said firm president Barb Dawson. “Mexico City is a natural extension of our geographic footprint, as we have offices in every U.S. state bordering Mexico, and it is a key market for advising clients in Latin America.”
Rivero, recognized by Chambers and with over 20 years of experience, will be the office’s managing partner. He advises national and international organizations across various sectors on mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, private equity, banking and finance, and capital markets.
Ávalos advises on mergers and acquisitions, private equity, financing, and capital markets, and is recognized by Chambers in the FinTech Legal category, as well as in Chambers Latin America in Banking and Finance and in Corporate/M&A. Chávez, also recognized by Chambers in real estate law, advises on investments and project development. Cervantes has more than two decades of experience advising employers on labor matters, benefits, and regulatory compliance.
“Snell & Wilmer provides our team with a strong, select, and established platform in the United States, an entrepreneurial culture, and a genuine commitment to building a world-class presence in Mexico,” Rivero said. “By combining Snell & Wilmer’s capabilities in the United States and in cross-border operations with our team’s experience and relationships in Mexico, we are creating an attractive platform for clients operating in both markets.”
Snell & Wilmer advises organizations based in Mexico, as well as U.S. and international clients with interests in the country, on a wide range of legal and business matters that frequently involve multiple jurisdictions and complex cross-border considerations.
