The Peruvian law firm Rodrigo, Elías & Medrano Abogados announced the addition of Omar Martín Córdova Cordoví as a new partner. He joins from Osterling Abogados , where he was a partner.
“With his addition, we further strengthen our insurance and reinsurance teams, as well as our aviation and maritime law teams,” the firm said in a statement.
With over 25 years of experience, Omar Córdova has focused his practice primarily on maritime law and insurance and reinsurance law. In the latter specialty, he has been recognized as an expert in the international directory Chambers and Partners. He has advised numerous insurance and reinsurance companies on maritime salvage, general average, collisions, and pollution cases, offering assistance in mediation, conciliation, and litigation processes, both nationally and internationally.
He has also provided legal advice on maritime salvage, recoveries, and civil liability, and takes an innovative approach to policy interpretation and dispute resolution arising from the drafting of insurance policies and reinsurance contracts. He has represented insurance and reinsurance companies in arbitration proceedings related to all lines of insurance.
He holds a law degree from San Martín de Porres University and an LLM in Maritime Law from Swansea University in the United Kingdom. He is also a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and the British Insurance Law Association, as well as the ALSUM Legal Observatory.
