Pinsent Masons has appointed Lucía González as a partner in its Energy M&A practice in Spain, reinforcing the Madrid team led by Hermenegildo Altozano.
González joins from Ontier, where she held responsibility for the Renewable Energy sector. She brings more than 15 years of transactional experience advising investors, developers, producers, builders, distributors and energy retailers on project structuring and development — across both domestic and cross-border mandates — covering the full lifecycle of energy initiatives.
Francisco Aldavero, managing partner of Pinsent Masons’ Madrid office, said González’s arrival “clearly reflects our long-term commitment to the sector” and would strengthen the firm’s advisory capacity “in an environment marked by regulatory change, market volatility, and the accelerated pace of the energy transition.”
González said she was joining at a critical juncture for the sector. She pointed to the firm’s focus on the energy transition, its international reach, and its grasp of investment trends as the factors that made Pinsent Masons the right platform to advise clients on complex, high-value transactions and innovative project development.
Julia Maguire, global head of Energy, framed the appointment in the context of the sector’s broader pressures: “As the energy sector responds to geopolitical change and the transition to net-zero emissions, Lucía’s extensive experience and deep sector knowledge will be invaluable to our practice and to our ability to support clients on large-scale, cross-border projects.”
The hire follows other recent additions to the Energy team in Spain, including Leticia Sitges as legal director. González’s arrival consolidates Pinsent Masons’ position as a leading firm in the Spanish market for renewable energy, decarbonisation and energy infrastructure work.
