Pérez-Llorca continues to advance its internationalization strategy with the relocation of two of its partners from Colombia. Juan David Quintero, Corporate and M&A partner, will join the New York office from Bogotá, while Alejandro Sanabria, Tax partner, will work from Madrid. Both will continue to practice Colombian law from their new locations.
These relocations reflect the growth in investment flows between the Americas and Europe and the increasing interconnectedness of both regions with Asia and the Middle East. In this context, companies, funds, and investors are increasingly pursuing transactions that combine different jurisdictions, funding sources, and decision-making centers. The presence of Colombian lawyers in New York and Madrid will allow the firm to connect these opportunities more directly with its teams in Latin America and provide coordinated advice from some of the world’s leading financial and business centers.
These moves are part of the Scala Project, the internal initiative designed to take advantage of the opportunities arising from the firm’s internationalization process and whose objectives are to consolidate a fully integrated Ibero-American legal platform, coordinate advice to multi-jurisdictional clients and promote the mobility and professional development of its lawyers.
Juan David Quintero’s move to New York will strengthen Pérez-Llorca’s relationship with the U.S. firms with which it regularly collaborates and which advise on transactions and investments focused on Latin America. Quintero has over 15 years of experience in local and cross-border mergers and acquisitions, private equity funds, joint ventures, and corporate reorganizations. He is admitted to practice law in Colombia and the State of New York, and holds a Master of Laws in Corporate Law from New York University School of Law and business training from NYU Stern School of Business.
For his part, Alejandro Sanabria’s move to Madrid reflects the sustained interest of Spanish and European investors and companies in identifying opportunities and developing their businesses in Colombia and throughout Latin America. His experience in international taxation and tax advisory services for mergers and acquisitions, financing, investment funds, infrastructure, energy, and real estate investments will allow him to contribute his knowledge of Latin American markets to the teams that support European investors in their entry, expansion, and structuring processes in the region.
“Our international strategy stems from a reality: investments are no longer structured in isolation between two jurisdictions, but increasingly involve companies, funds, financiers, and advisors from different markets. The addition of Juan David and Alejandro to our New York and Madrid offices will allow us to bring knowledge of Colombian law closer to the places where many of these transactions originate and are structured, to be closer to the U.S. firms with which we work, and to provide coordinated support to our clients in their projects in Latin America,” said Iván Delgado, International Executive Partner of Pérez-Llorca, based in New York.
This initiative is supported by a leadership structure closely aligned with the region’s main markets. Iván Delgado leads Pérez-Llorca’s international strategy from New York, while Pedro Pérez-Llorca, the firm’s managing partner, temporarily relocated to Mexico City for a year at the beginning of 2026 to support the Americas team and strengthen the development of the Ibero-American platform from there.
Pérez-Llorca practices Spanish, Portuguese, Mexican, Colombian, and Peruvian law and has offices in Abu Dhabi, Barcelona, Bogotá, Brussels, Mexico City, Lima, Lisbon, London, Madrid, Medellín, Monterrey, New York, and Singapore. The firm has also established itself as the Ibero-American firm with the most awards in recent editions of Chambers Latin America and Latin Lawyer 250, reflecting the strength of its teams and practices in the region’s key markets.
