Brazilian firm Lavez Coutinho announced the addition of Jatyr Gomes as a new partner in the tax area, strengthening the firm’s practice in consumption taxation and tax reform.
This move coincides with the increased demand for specialized advice on highly complex issues, especially given the structural impacts of the new Tax Reform regulations on business operations. With over 15 years of experience in tax law, Jatyr has developed his career with a strong focus on indirect taxes, both in consulting and administrative litigation at the federal, state, and municipal levels.
Throughout his career, Jatyr has advised large national and multinational companies in sectors such as energy, automotive industry, premium beverages, agriculture and biotechnology, technology, telecommunications and mining, on complex and strategic matters.
“Jatyr’s arrival coincides with the growing demand for specialized advice on consumption taxation and tax reform, issues that have gained strategic importance given the complexity and structural impact of the new rules on businesses,” stated Raphael Lavez. According to Rômulo Coutinho, “His experience in complex indirect taxation matters, built over more than 15 years at large firms and in close collaboration with major national and multinational companies, strengthens our ability to support clients in adapting to this new landscape.”
For Jatyr, joining Lavez Coutinho represents an opportunity to contribute to an expanding project aligned with the current challenges of the business market. “I take on this new challenge with the conviction that I have found an environment aligned with my values of technical excellence, ethics, and a focus on results for the client. I am excited to contribute to Lavez Coutinho’s growth trajectory.”
The addition of the new partner reinforces the firm’s strategy of expanding its activity in tax matters with the greatest impact on companies, combining technical depth, practical vision and closeness to the specific needs of clients.
In a context of regulatory transition and operational adaptation, the Tax Reform has required companies to carefully analyze their business models, contractual structures, pricing, supply chains, tax credit schemes, and financial impacts. Within this framework, consumption taxation has taken on a central role in strategic decision-making.
With the addition of Jatyr, Lavez Coutinho expands its capacity to support companies in understanding new rules, identifying risks and opportunities, and building legal solutions aligned with the reality of each business.
