Holland & Knight announced the appointment of Miami partner Alex M. Gonzalez as leader of its Latin America Litigation and Disputes team. Gonzalez brings to this new role more than three decades of experience in highly complex trials and arbitrations.
With a distinguished 34-year career at Holland & Knight, Gonzalez has established himself as a leading figure in resolving complex and high-profile matters throughout Latin America. His extensive experience includes representing national and international corporate clients in large-scale litigation and arbitration cases in sectors such as finance, energy, technology, healthcare, entertainment, and transportation, among others.
“Alex’s deep-rooted experience in Latin American markets and his proven ability to manage complex cross-border disputes make him the ideal leader for this team,” said Christopher Kelly, Head of Litigation at Holland & Knight. “His appointment reaffirms our commitment to providing world-class legal advice to our clients.”
Gonzalez is widely recognized for his ability to develop and implement innovative, robust, and comprehensive litigation strategies that bridge the gap between the American model of representation and the procedural nuances of civil law systems. A central pillar of his practice is the seamless coordination of multi-jurisdictional teams; to this end, he leverages the firm’s strong network of trusted local advisors throughout the region, ensuring clients a cohesive and unified defense strategy, regardless of the forum in which the matter is litigated.
“It is an honor to assume this new role,” Gonzalez said. “My goal is to work alongside the rest of our Latin American team to further strengthen the firm’s strong presence in the region.”
Gonzalez earned his Juris Doctor (JD) from Duke University School of Law and his Bachelor of Laws (BA) from the University of Miami. He is licensed to practice law in the state of Florida.
