Hitchings & González strengthens its Litigation Department with the arrival of José Antonio García Maldonado from Pérez-Llorca

By Heidi Maldonado

Hitchings & González has strengthened its Litigation Department with the appointment of José Antonio García Maldonado, formerly a member of the Litigation and Public Law team at Pérez-Llorca. Throughout his career, he has handled complex proceedings, advising both domestic and international clients.

Previously, he worked in the Litigation department at Mazars Tax & Legal, where he dealt with a broad range of civil and commercial matters. This experience, together with his subsequent tenure at Pérez-Llorca, has enabled him to build a solid track record in managing complex disputes and providing strategic advice to clients. He has been recognised as a “One to Watch” in the Litigation category in the 2025 and 2026 editions of Best Lawyers.

Profile of José Antonio García Maldonado

José Antonio focuses his practice on advising on and resolving civil and commercial disputes, with particular expertise in complex proceedings relating to damages arising from infringements of competition law and contractual liability. His work includes strategic litigation planning, drafting pleadings at all levels of court, and representing clients in hearings and trials.

He has also advised on the negotiation and execution of commercial contracts and has been involved in regulatory proceedings and consultations for financial institutions, distribution companies and businesses across various sectors. His practice is further strengthened by his coordination of multidisciplinary teams and the management of cross-border projects involving international firms and clients.

Specialising in litigation relating to competition law and European Union law, as well as national and international collective actions, Hitchings & González was founded in 2025 by Paul Hitchings, a leading practitioner in these fields and Doctor of Law, and Blas A. González, a commercial judge currently on leave from the Spanish judiciary.
