The Partners’ Meeting of Garrigues has approved the early renewal of Fernando Vives as executive chairman, extending his mandate -originally due to expire on 31 January 2028- by six years, until June 2032. The decision was unanimous, reflecting the partners’ view that continuity at the top represents the soundest strategic response to a period of material challenge and opportunity for the sector.
“It is a great honour and a great responsibility that the partners have once again placed their trust in me so clearly. I hope to contribute with all my efforts to continuing and consolidating the roadmap we have begun, and to achieving the ambitious goals we have set for the years ahead, so that the firm consolidates its ethical and professional leadership in every market in which it operates. This is a collective endeavour, and always has been,” said Vives. This is the sixth time the Partners’ Board has re-elected him to the role.
Fernando Vives (Madrid, 8 October 1962) has served as executive chairman and managing partner of Garrigues since 2009. He holds a doctorate in Law (Cum Laude) and a degree in Economics and Business Administration from the Universidad Pontificia de Comillas (ICADE), and has more than 35 years of experience in business law, with particular expertise in securities law, corporate law, and mergers and acquisitions.
He is a Full Member of the Real Academia de Jurisprudencia y Legislación de España and has been awarded the Grand Cross of the Order of Civil Merit and the Cross of Honour of the Order of Saint Raymond of Peñafort.
The leading international legal directories -Chambers, Legal 500, IFLR and others- rank him among the most distinguished practitioners across several categories.
