He is a managing partner at ALN Abogados, a law firm specializing in mining law with more than 20 years of experience serving the mining industry.
Joel holds a law degree from the Monterrey Institute of Technology (ITESM) and has studied international mining policy and law, environmental law, social impact assessment, urban law, and land use planning.
He has extensive experience in project and business start-ups, foreign direct investment, joint ventures, corporate development, mergers and acquisitions, the environment, licensing and regulatory compliance, and land tenure for mining companies.
He has participated as an advisor in major mining projects in Mexico, including projects in the early and advanced stages of exploration, construction, operation, and mine closure, as well as in project financing and the negotiation of mineral product marketing contracts.
Joel and the attorneys at ALN are members of and have participated in the most prestigious mining and legal organizations in Canada and Mexico, such as CANCHAM, for which he is currently the correspondent for the Northern Zone, AME, PDAC, AIMMGM, CAMIMEX, Mining Clusters, Foundation for Natural Resources and Energy Law, among others, in which they have participated as panelists and speakers on relevant current issues for
