Eversheds Sutherland has appointed Miguel Barroso as a new partner in the Technology, Media and Telecommunications (TMT) department of its Spanish office. With this appointment, the firm strengthens its leading practice in technology and digital regulation, which also includes partner Vicente Arias, in a context marked by accelerating innovation and new regulatory challenges.

Barroso has over 15 years of professional experience, specializing in legal advice to large companies, venture capital entities and public administrations, both nationally and internationally, on matters of digital transformation, data protection and privacy, technology contracting, intellectual property, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and regulated sectors, as well as litigation and arbitration in these areas.
Before joining Eversheds Sutherland, Barroso was a partner in the TMT practice at the international firm Dentons, where he led the creation and development of the practice in Spain. Previously, he served as of counsel at Herbert Smith Freehills in the Emerging Technologies, Digital, Data Protection and Regulated Sectors practice, participating in some of the most significant matters related to technological innovation and the digital economy. Alongside his professional practice, Barroso has been actively involved in teaching, lecturing in postgraduate programs and the Master’s Degree in Legal Practice at Rey Juan Carlos University, the Autonomous University of Madrid, and Villanueva University Center.
His professional career has been recognized by international directories such as Best Lawyers in areas such as Information Technology Law, Privacy and Data Protection Law and Regulatory Law.
Joining Barroso is Cristina Ramírez, also from Dentons, as an associate in the department. Specializing in matters related to intellectual property, data protection, telecommunications, technology contracts, and due diligence for technology companies, she previously spent her career at Cuatrecasas and Herbert Smith Freehills. Ramírez holds degrees in Law and Philosophy from the Complutense University of Madrid and a Master’s degree in Legal Practice and Business Law from the University of Navarra.
