The international law firm Eversheds Sutherland has appointed Alejandro Ferreiro as its new Legal Director for the Labour practice in Spain, strengthening one of its most strategic areas for delivering comprehensive advice to national and international companies. His arrival also forms part of the firm’s strategy to reinforce its presence in Barcelona, where it has teams providing ongoing advice to clients across the region, consolidating its operational footprint in one of the country’s principal economic centres.

More about Alejandro Ferreiro
Ferreiro has more than 12 years’ experience in Labour and Social Security Law, much of it gained at leading firms such as Garrigues, where he practised for the past six years. Throughout his career, he has provided ongoing employment and labour advice to companies across a range of sectors, with particular expertise in corporate transactions and restructuring processes, the negotiation of collective redundancies (EREs) and temporary lay-off schemes (ERTEs), as well as collective bargaining and the negotiation of collective agreements.
His experience also includes handling disciplinary proceedings, objective and disciplinary dismissals, representation before the labour courts, labour due diligence in corporate transactions, and advising on functional and geographical mobility. He has further advised on international employee transfers, substantial modifications to working conditions, senior executive employment relationships, and proceedings initiated by the Labour and Social Security Inspectorate. His practice also covers cases involving surcharges on social security benefits arising from breaches of occupational health and safety regulations.
A Law graduate of the University of Barcelona, Alejandro Ferreiro holds a postgraduate qualification in Labour and Commercial Legal Practice from the Barcelona Bar Association, as well as a postgraduate qualification in Compliance from Pompeu Fabra University. Alongside his professional practice, he lectures on the Master’s programme in Labour Law Consultancy at the Centre for Financial Studies (CEF) and at the Distance University of Madrid (UDIMA).
