Ejaso hires Jordi Bermúdez, from RocaJunyent, to strengthen its Commercial and Regulatory practice in Barcelona

By Heidi Maldonado

Ejaso continues to strengthen its Barcelona office with the addition of Jordi Bermúdez, formerly managing associate of RocaJunyent and specializing in Commercial and Regulatory-Financial Law.

His arrival represents a new impetus for the firm’s practice in advising entities subject to financial regulation, an area in which Jordi has developed a particularly relevant part of his professional career.

The addition of Jordi Bermúdez comes at a time of special growth for Ejaso in Barcelona and adds to the recent integration of the DS Avocats team in Spain into the firm, an operation that has significantly strengthened its presence and capabilities in the Catalan market.

With both moves, Ejaso significantly consolidates its multidisciplinary advisory capacity in areas such as Commercial and Corporate Law, advising entities and operators of regulated markets, Tax and Fiscal Law, Procedural Law, estate and succession planning.

This combination of capabilities allows the firm to offer comprehensive advice to companies, investors, family groups and regulated entities, combining corporate, financial, regulatory, tax, procedural and asset management knowledge.

More from Jordi Bermúdez

It has solid experience advising national and international companies, as well as regulated entities, including Management Companies of Closed-Type Collective Investment Entities (SGEIC) and their managed vehicles, including Venture Capital Funds (FCR), European Social Entrepreneurship Funds (FESE), European Venture Capital Funds (FCRE), Closed-Type Collective Investment Companies (SICC) and Closed-Type Collective Investment Funds (FICC), as well as investment services companies (Securities Companies, Securities Agencies, Financial Advisory Companies…).

Throughout his career he has participated in the constitution, structuring and operation of closed-type collective investment vehicles, including venture capital companies and funds, and has advised on projects linked to the fintech ecosystem and new financing models (such as payment entities, electronic money entities, remote credit platforms, etc.), as well as on projects for the creation of participatory financing platforms (crowdfunding and crowdlending).

Jordi also specializes in sustainable finance, an area of increasing relevance for investors, managers and regulated entities given the evolution of the European regulatory framework and the progressive incorporation of sustainability criteria in investment and financing decisions.

Alongside her regulatory expertise, she has extensive experience in mergers and acquisitions (M&A), participating in all phases of the process, from transaction design and structuring to contract negotiation and closing. Her practice also encompasses syndicated and bilateral financing transactions, commercial contracts, and corporate law.

In addition, he has performed secretarial duties for companies and currently serves as a non-director secretary for various companies, thus reinforcing a profile focused on recurring advice on corporate, business and governance matters.

Jordi combines his professional activity with extensive academic and outreach work. He is a professor in the Master’s program in Corporate Finance at the Barcelona Finance School (BFS) and in the double degree program in Law and Business Administration at Pompeu Fabra University (UPF), where he currently teaches Contracts, having previously taught Financial Markets Law and Introduction to Private and Business Law.

He also regularly participates as a speaker in meetings related to the financial and fintech sector organized, among other institutions, by the Spanish Association of Fintech and Insurtech (AEFI) and the Barcelona Centre Financer Europeu (BCFE).

The addition of Jordi brings, in particular, a distinctive specialization in advising regulated financial entities, such as management companies, investment vehicles, investment services companies, as well as fintech projects and companies, reinforcing Ejaso’s position in operations and projects that require a high degree of technical and regulatory knowledge.
