DLA Piper has added Pedro Gonçalves Paes and Ricardo Néry as of counsel in its Portugal office, where they will contribute to the development of projects in the infrastructure and energy sectors, with a particular focus on Africa. The firm also strengthened its litigation practice with the addition of Lina Esteves as an associate. All three join from RSA – Sociedade de Advogados.

Nuno Azevedo Neves, managing partner of DLA Piper Portugal, stated, “We are very pleased to welcome Pedro and Ricardo to the team. They share our vision, our culture, and our growth strategy. Their experience in international projects in the infrastructure and energy sectors significantly strengthens our capabilities and track record in strategic areas for Portugal and, above all, in the international operations we coordinate, with a particular focus on Angola and Mozambique, and more broadly across the 20 African countries where DLA Piper operates.”

For his part, Pedro Gonçalves Paes stated that he fully identifies with DLA Piper’s ambition and values and is proud to join the team. His deep understanding of Africa’s commercial, cultural, and political realities can be a differentiating factor for our global clients with interests in the region.

Meanwhile, Ricardo Néry added that “it is a great pleasure to join DLA Piper and have the opportunity to contribute to the expansion of our presence on the African continent, where we are one of the most active firms in the market.”
