Diego González Altamirano joins Ritch Mueller as a partner in the Economic Competition practice

By Heidi Maldonado

Ritch Mueller announced the addition of Diego González Altamirano as a partner in the firm’s Economic Competition practice.

“Competition has become crucial in the operations and regulated markets in which our clients operate,” said Luis Nicolau, senior partner at Ritch Mueller. “Diego is one of the most talented competition lawyers of his generation and a recognized leader in the field. His arrival strengthens our competition practice and allows us to serve our clients even more effectively.”

“Joining Ritch Mueller is a natural decision and a tremendous opportunity to perform the most sophisticated competition law work in Mexico,” said González Altamirano. “The firm’s transactional and regulatory platform, and the caliber of its clients, make it an ideal place to practice economic competition at the highest level.”

More from the new partner

His practice covers the entire regulatory cycle: from day-to-day advice in regulated markets and notification of complex mergers across all industries, to defending clients in investigations of monopolistic practices and barriers to competition, as well as the administrative and constitutional litigation that these matters may trigger. He has particular expertise in highly regulated sectors, such as telecommunications, financial services, energy, and digital markets, representing clients before the National Antitrust Commission (CNA), sector regulators, and specialized courts for economic competition, broadcasting, and telecommunications.

The new partner began his career as a legal intern in the office of Justice José Ramón Cossío Díaz at the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation. He practiced at several prestigious law firms and later gained international experience as an associate at Analysis Group in New York and Boston, where he specialized in the economic analysis of competition. He holds a law degree from the Escuela Libre de Derecho, a Master of Laws (LL.M.) from Columbia Law School, and is recognized in competition law by Chambers and Partners.
