The international firm Debevoise & Plimpton LLP announced the promotion of Sergio Torres, a lawyer specializing in mergers and acquisitions, private equity, and private equity transactions focused on Latin America, to partner in New York. This promotion will be effective July 1.
His practice focuses on domestic and international acquisitions, divestitures, complex joint ventures, venture capital and private equity investments, and corporate governance matters for private equity sponsors, financial institutions, and other corporate clients.
He obtained his Master of Laws (LL.M.) from Stanford Law School in 2016, postgraduate degrees in International Trade and Corporate Law from the International Institute of Social Sciences and the Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo in 2011 and 2013, respectively, his MBA from Fundação Getulio Vargas in 2009 and his law degree from the University of Blumenau, Brazil, in 2008.
The new partner is authorized to practice law in New York and Brazil.
