Joaquín Fernández Moya is a specialist in insurance litigation and emerging areas of Insurtech, with extensive experience advising insurers, reinsurers and policyholders in complex, high-value disputes in Spain and in multiple jurisdictions.
His practice encompasses a wide variety of disputes related to insurance coverage in conventional areas such as product liability, energy, construction and engineering, political risk insurance, claims in the pharmaceutical and biological sectors, professional liability, and in emerging areas of Insurtech where he has extensive knowledge of digital distribution networks and platforms, including marketplaces and technology, risk management tools, prevention and cybersecurity, process automation, and claims management, using artificial intelligence, big data, and blockchain.
Furthermore, it has extensive experience in crisis management and procedural advice in civil and criminal jurisdiction, in mediation and arbitration processes, accompanying its clients throughout the entire conflict cycle, from the prior analysis of coverage and the management of crisis situations to the procedural defense, the execution of resolutions and the coordination of cross-border proceedings.
Throughout his career he has represented national and international clients in particularly complex judicial and extrajudicial proceedings, consolidating a recognized expertise in the strategic management of international litigation and disputes.
He has participated in the adaptation and interpretation of foreign policies in a wide variety of risks, including all-risk construction and assembly policies, professional liability, product liability, cyber insurance and contingencies, among others.
Joaquín Fernández Moya combines his professional activity with a distinguished academic career. He is a professor of Civil Liability in the Master's Degree Program for Access to the Legal Profession at ICADE (Comillas Pontifical University) and regularly participates as an instructor in specialized training programs on civil liability and defective products offered by INESE, one of the leading training platforms in the insurance sector in Spain. This teaching activity reflects the depth of his technical knowledge and his recognized standing within the insurance market.
Joaquín Fernández Moya holds a law degree from CEU San Pablo University and a Master of Laws from IE Law School. He is a member of the Madrid Bar Association and practices law in both Spanish and English.
