In line with its strategy of providing high-value legal advice on matters of innovation, technological regulation and digital transformation, Chilean firm az announced the addition of lawyer Juan Pablo González as director of New Technologies and AI.
Its arrival responds to the growing challenge that organizations face in adapting to an increasingly complex regulatory environment, marked by the entry into force of the Personal Data Law on December 1 of this year, the implementation of the Cybersecurity Framework Law and the advancement of new governance standards for artificial intelligence.

The consolidation of this practice responds to a scenario in which companies face increasing demands in terms of data protection, cybersecurity and AI governance, which requires specialized advice to strengthen their compliance models and technological risk management.
In this context, the New Technologies and AI practice will seek to support organizations in strengthening their capabilities for prevention, detection and response to cybersecurity incidents, as well as in complying with the obligations imposed by the Cybersecurity Framework Law.
Likewise, az aims to advise companies on the design and implementation of governance models for the responsible use of artificial intelligence, addressing aspects such as transparency, risk management, traceability of automated decisions and the adoption of regulatory and ethical standards, with the goal of enabling them to incorporate these technologies safely and reliably.
With extensive experience in these areas, Juan Pablo González has developed a distinguished career advising public and private institutions on data protection, cybersecurity and compliance.
Throughout his career, he has held leadership positions in top-tier organizations. He was in charge of legal affairs at the National Cybersecurity Coordination of the Undersecretariat of the Interior, where he led legislative initiatives related to cybercrime, cybersecurity, and the digital transformation of the State, also participating in the process of adapting Chile to the Budapest Convention and in the implementation of the National Cybersecurity Policy.
Subsequently, he served as a senior manager at Deloitte and NTT DATA, leading regulatory compliance, privacy, and data governance projects for national and international clients. Later, he led the Data, Privacy & Security practice at Assertiva Risk Advisory and, most recently, was director of Personal Data Protection, Cybersecurity, and New Technologies at HD Group.
In the academic field, he currently directs the Diploma in Technology and Regulation at the Universidad del Desarrollo and participates as a guest professor in various national and international universities and seminars, contributing to the training of new professionals.
