Bird & Bird Spain has promoted Jorge Sanz to partner in the Labor Law department, strengthening one of the firm’s strategic areas in its Madrid office. This promotion recognizes Sanz’s solid professional track record; he joined the firm in 2020 and until now held the position of counsel.
A graduate in Spanish-French Law from the Complutense University of Madrid in 2013, Sanz has completed his training with various international specialization master’s degrees in countries such as France, the United States and the Netherlands.
With over ten years of experience in labor law, Bird & Bird’s new partner regularly advises national and international clients on all types of employment-related legal matters. His practice includes restructuring processes, dismissals, social security issues, and collective bargaining disputes, as well as ongoing support in day-to-day human resources management. He also has extensive experience in leading and defending clients in litigation, both before labor and administrative courts, and has participated in significant collective bargaining processes.
Bird & Bird’s Madrid Labor Law practice, with 12 lawyers, is one of the largest in the Spanish office. Under the leadership of partner Miguel Pastur, the department advised on a high volume of labor matters during 2025—including more than 200 litigation proceedings—providing comprehensive support in all areas of Labor Law, both in litigation and non-litigation, to national and international clients.
For Miguel Pastur, this promotion “is a natural reflection of Jorge’s commitment, technical excellence, and dedication to our clients and colleagues and to the Bird & Bird project, as well as his values and integrity, which are so aligned with the firm’s culture.” In his opinion, “this appointment strengthens our ability to continue offering top-tier employment law advice, especially in a context of increasing regulatory complexity and profound transformation of the labor market.”
For his part, Jorge Sanz stated that he is approaching this new stage “with enormous enthusiasm and a strong sense of responsibility,” adding that “it is an honor to be part of a firm like Bird & Bird, with a solid project and a clear international focus.” In this regard, he emphasized his commitment to “continuing to add value for clients and contributing to the growth of the Labor Law practice, alongside a top-tier team.”
With this promotion, Bird & Bird reaffirms its commitment to internal talent and consolidates the sustained growth of its labor practice in Spain.
