Auren continues to strengthen its team with the addition of Elena Michelena as a new partner at Auren Legal and Jordi Bonet as of counsel, both in the Barcelona office, where they will lead the development of the Public and Regulatory Law area.
The two professionals come from Ecija, where they have worked together in the creation and consolidation of the Public Law practice, both having an extensive professional career advising on projects of high regulatory complexity for companies, investors and public administrations.
According to Mario Alonso, president of Auren, “the addition of Elena Michelena and Jordi Bonet reinforces our commitment to further strengthening strategic areas for the firm. Their renowned experience and multidisciplinary approach will enrich a practice that is increasingly relevant in a constantly evolving regulatory environment.”
For her part, Elena Michelena noted that “our joining Auren represents an opportunity to develop a comprehensive project in Public Law, strengthening areas related to technological regulation and regulatory compliance.”
Meanwhile, Jordi Bonet stated that “it is a privilege to join Auren to contribute to the strengthening of an existing practice, with a cross-cutting vision of Public Law capable of connecting legal practice with institutional and territorial reality.”
More of the new additions
Elena Michelena has over 25 years of experience in public law, regulation, and public procurement. Throughout her career, she has advised public administrations, subsidiaries, and companies in highly regulated sectors on bidding processes, regulatory adaptation, and compliance. She specializes in public procurement, urban planning, environmental law, and sector-specific regulations, combining in-depth technical knowledge with a forward-thinking perspective on innovation and technological transformation applied to the legal field.
A graduate in Law from the University of Barcelona, Elena has held leadership positions at firms such as Garrigues and Uría Menéndez throughout her career, in addition to founding her own specialized firm. Before joining Auren, she was a partner in the Public and Regulatory Law practice at Écija.
Jordi Bonet, who joins as Of Counsel, has extensive experience in Public and Administrative Law, with a particular focus on urban planning, infrastructure, the environment, and land management. He has developed his career advising public and private entities on projects with significant territorial impact, especially in Catalonia and the Balearic Islands, with solid experience in urban planning, permit management and administrative procedures, as well as administrative litigation.
Throughout his career, he has combined professional practice with institutional responsibilities, in addition to participating in various governing bodies in public and private institutions. Bonet has also been a member of the Expert Commission for defining the territorial and administrative organization model of Catalonia.
Both professionals join Auren Legal’s Public Law practice, strengthening an already established team and expanding the firm’s capabilities in this area. This double addition also reinforces Auren’s expertise in data protection, compliance, and the regulation of new technologies and artificial intelligence applied to the public sector. All of this is achieved through a multidisciplinary working model, in which different teams collaborate in a coordinated manner to offer comprehensive solutions to the challenges posed by an increasingly complex and digitalized regulatory environment.
Auren has an office in Barcelona with a team of 150 professionals who provide services in the legal, audit, consulting and corporate divisions, offering comprehensive coverage at a global level.
