Afianza Legal, the legal division of Afianza, has completed the acquisition of Winkels Abogados, a Madrid-based firm specializing in national and international Family and Inheritance Law, led by Isabel Winkels. This acquisition reinforces Afianza Legal’s commitment to areas requiring high technical expertise and a human touch, and places Winkels at the helm of a new division dedicated to family law, inheritance, and cross-border proceedings.
Joining Isabel Winkels are eight professionals with experience in managing cases that require a technical and human approach.
Isabel Winkels has developed a specialized career in Family and Inheritance Law, with particular attention to highly complex matters, international proceedings, and situations requiring a combination of technical expertise, personal sensitivity, and negotiation skills. Her practice has focused on the protection of minors, vulnerable individuals, and family assets in both national and international contexts.
Winkels Abogados thus contributes its expertise in areas such as divorce, separation and annulment of marriage, modification of court orders, gender violence, parentage and voluntary jurisdiction, inheritance and succession, guardianship and conservatorship, prenuptial agreements and matrimonial property regimes. Internationally, the firm is highly specialized in specific areas such as cross-border proceedings, international child abduction, international divorce and succession, the handling of different matrimonial property regimes, and immigration law.
Isabel Winkels, managing partner of Winkels Abogados, emphasized that “our integration into Afianza allows us to scale our approach to Family Law, based on technical rigor, specialization, and personalized support. It represents an opportunity to further develop our work in family and inheritance law within a structure with greater capacity to offer our clients comprehensive service. We will maintain our distinctive model, focused on finding solutions that especially protect minors and the most vulnerable, now with the backing of a larger organization.”
For his part, Víctor Torrico, CEO of Afianza, praised the acquisition, stating that, “adding Winkels Abogados means adding a team with in-depth technical expertise in such a sensitive area as Family Law. Isabel Winkels perfectly embodies the type of legal leadership we seek: specialization, technical expertise, and a particularly valuable approach to client support. The firm has a proven track record in resolving complex cases, both national and international, which aligns with our objective of expanding our high-level legal services.”
Winkels Abogados will become part of Afianza’s legal division, which has achieved a turnover of €21.2 million in 2025, representing a 73% increase over the previous year, with more than 220 professionals. With this addition, Afianza Legal opens a new vertical within its legal department, offering its clients specialized and personalized advice in the sensitive area of Family and Inheritance Law.
