Andersen has appointed Javier Ortega as a partner in its Real Estate practice. The lawyer, who has more than 20 years of experience at leading national and international firms, specialises in highly complex commercial real estate transactions, ranging from office and logistics buildings to hotels and resorts. He joins Andersen with a team comprising two lawyers: Gerardo Cólera, senior associate, and Inés Isidro, associate.

About Javier Ortega
He holds a law degree from the Complutense University of Madrid and the University of Vienna, as well as a doctorate in law from the latter institution. Throughout his career, he has advised on sale-and-leaseback transactions, urban planning matters, mortgage law and structured real estate finance, including the acquisition of non-performing loans (NPLs) and debt restructuring. He also combines his professional practice with teaching as a professor of Real Estate Finance and Acquisition in the Global Master in Real Estate Development (GMRED) programme at IE School of Architecture and Design. Ortega has been recognised by leading legal directories including Chambers Europe and Legal 500.
Javier Ortega and his team have joined the firm’s Real Estate practice, which advises national and international companies, funds, REITs, developers and construction companies. The practice’s work spans the full lifecycle of real estate transactions, from due diligence to contracting and financing, as well as the structuring of guarantees, construction contracts and other complex real estate agreements. The team works closely with the Corporate, Tax and Urban Planning practices on investment and divestment structures, among other matters.
