Ecija continues to strengthen its leadership in the digital economy with the addition in Mexico of a new team of professionals specializing in Technology, Media, and Telecommunications (TMT) and Intellectual Property, led by Miguel Ángel Carpio.

With more than 25 years of professional experience, Miguel Ángel Carpio is recognized for advising national and international companies on trademarks, copyright, industrial property, and legal strategy. His multidisciplinary approach and strategic vision have positioned him as a leader in highly dynamic ecosystems such as entertainment, technology, and the digital economy. He is a certified member (No. 085) of the Mexican Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (AMPPI) and an official intellectual property expert accredited by the Ministry of Public Education.
He has also been deputy coordinator of the Nice Agreement Working Group in collaboration with the Mexican Institute of Industrial Property (IMPI) and has extensive experience as a mediator in commercial and intellectual matters. He has taught at universities such as Anahuac University, Ibero-American University, and Mayab University, and has completed specialization programs at institutions such as WIPO, the Asia-Pacific Industrial Property Center (Japan), and the University of South Africa (UNISA).
The team joining the firm includes Ernesto Erreguerena as counsel, with nearly three decades of experience in intellectual property, particularly in patents, utility models, and industrial designs. His practice, which focuses on the technology, media, telecommunications, and entertainment sectors, strengthens Ecija’s position at the intersection of innovation, the digital economy, and law. Since 2008, he has been a full professor of Intellectual Property Law at Anahuac University.
