Perkins Coie and Ashurst announced that the partners of both firms have approved the proposed merger by an overwhelming majority. This approval, the result of a thorough internal consultation process, demonstrates strong support for the integration of two firms with clearly complementary geographic presence, sector specialization, and practice strengths.
Upon completion of the transaction, Ashurst Perkins Coie will be a fully integrated global law firm with combined revenues of approximately $2.8 billion. The firm will have nearly 3,000 lawyers in more than 50 offices, with strategic hubs in Seattle, London, Sydney, and New York.
Ashurst Perkins Coie will be distinguished by its strength in the technology, energy and infrastructure, and financial services sectors—key industries in the transformation of the global economy—as well as by its leading practices in complex transactions and litigation. Building on the innovative track record of both firms, including their early adoption of artificial intelligence, the new firm will leverage its scale and technological leadership to offer clients more agile, in-depth, and highest-quality advice worldwide.
This integration is based on a shared culture of collaboration and high performance, positioning Ashurst Perkins Coie as a trusted advisor to leading companies and as a destination of choice for top international legal talent.
Bill Malley, global managing partner of Perkins Coie, stated that “the approval of our combination reflects a shared conviction: the creation of Ashurst Perkins Coie will result in a truly differentiated global legal platform, with the scale, sector specialization and technological leadership needed to respond to the growing and complex cross-border needs of our clients.”
Paul Jenkins, Global CEO of Ashurst, added, “This vote confirms the extraordinary alignment between our two firms and our shared ambition for the future. The intensive work with our partners, professionals, and clients since the announcement of the transaction has demonstrated that we are a natural fit. Our complementary expertise, coupled with a shared commitment to innovation, will allow us to offer our clients greater global reach and capabilities, while creating a highly attractive platform for top legal talent.”
Karen Davies, Global President of Ashurst, stated, “Our clients operate in increasingly complex environments and demand advisors who can guide them with vision and expertise. Ashurst and Perkins Coie share a deeply collaborative culture and a strong commitment to excellence. This integration will create a global firm capable of delivering truly integrated solutions, seamlessly blending jurisdictions and practice areas, and aligned with our clients’ international ambitions.”
Mark Birnbaum, Chairman of the Executive Committee of Perkins Coie, stated that “the support of our partners underscores their commitment to building a future-oriented firm that strengthens our ability to anticipate opportunities and deliver world-class legal advice in a dynamic global environment. It also reflects their shared confidence in the potential of this merger and the strength of the resulting platform to drive sustained growth and exceptional performance.”
The transaction remains subject to customary closing conditions and is expected to be completed in the third quarter of 2026.
