Pérez-Llorca has signed a patronage agreement with the Calouste Gulbenkian Museum in Lisbon, reinforcing its commitment to promoting the arts in Portugal. This initiative aligns with the firm’s strategy of partnering with projects of cultural excellence in the markets where it operates.
The Calouste Gulbenkian Museum houses a unique collection of nearly six thousand works—from antiquity to the early 20th century—spanning diverse civilizations, from the Near and Far East to European art. Its holdings include masterpieces by artists such as Rembrandt, Rubens, Monet, and Degas, as well as the iconic collection of works by René Lalique. Inaugurated in 1969, the museum fulfilled its founder’s wish to bring his artistic heritage together under one roof and has since established itself as an international leader in the preservation and dissemination of artistic heritage.
The Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation expressed its satisfaction at adding the firm to its group of patrons, emphasizing that “Pérez-Llorca is a leading institution in the legal field and has a recognized track record in supporting the arts.”
Currently, the Calouste Gulbenkian Museum remains closed for modernization works that include the renovation of infrastructure, the reorganization of exhibition galleries and the optimization of visitor flows, with the aim of improving conservation conditions and offering a renewed and more accessible museum experience.
Within the framework of this agreement, Pérez-Llorca and the Calouste Gulbenkian Museum will promote exclusive initiatives aimed at professionals, clients and partners of the firm, such as guided and commented tours, thematic colloquiums and cultural meetings.
“This alliance with the Calouste Gulbenkian Museum symbolizes the consolidation of our commitment to Portugal. For Pérez-Llorca, having a full presence in a market means actively contributing in multiple dimensions, including to the country’s cultural capital. By supporting an institution that is a global benchmark and a pillar of Lisbon’s identity, we reaffirm our commitment to being a strategic partner in the development and promotion of the national and international art ecosystem,” said Carlos Vaz de Almeida, managing partner of Pérez-Llorca’s Lisbon office.
For her part, Constanza Vergara, partner and chief operating officer of Pérez-Llorca, emphasized that “this collaboration reflects our conviction that law and art share fundamental values: rigor, interpretation, and legacy building. Supporting the Gulbenkian at this time of renewal means investing in Lisbon’s intellectual and cultural capital.”
The signing of the agreement took place at the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation and was attended by António M. Feijó, President of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation; Jorge Vasconcelos, Administrator of the Foundation; and Susana Prudêncio, Deputy Director of Marketing and Information Systems. Representing Pérez-Llorca were Constanza Vergara, Chief Operating Officer; Carlos Vaz de Almeida, Managing Partner of the Lisbon office; and Inês Arruda and Adolfo Mesquita Nunes, Country Co-chairs in Portugal.
This patronage adds to other cultural initiatives promoted by Pérez-Llorca, such as support in Spain for the Prado National Museum, the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona or the Reina Sofía Higher School of Music, reinforcing the firm’s position as a strategic partner within the arts ecosystem.
