Ontier launched Ontier Disputes, a new global business unit specializing in complex international disputes, with the aim of strengthening and projecting internationally the firm’s historical experience in litigation, arbitration and dispute resolution.
Beyond a conventional international practice, Ontier Disputes was born as a global structure oriented to manage disputes of high legal and strategic complexity; characterized by the interaction between multiple jurisdictions, parallel proceedings, regulatory risk, reputational exposure, asset protection, cross-border execution or high impact on the business of clients.
The creation of this unit responds to an increasingly common reality in the international business environment: conflicts that demand not only technical excellence, but also procedural strategy, international coordination, business vision and a deep understanding of the sectoral, economic, cultural and reputational context in which companies operate.
Ontier Disputes combines the highly specialized and flexible approach of an international disputes boutique with Ontier’s multidisciplinary capabilities, global network, and industry expertise. This unit will allow for the creation of tailored international teams to meet the specific needs of each case, integrating professionals from diverse jurisdictions, practice areas, and economic sectors.
The new unit is part of Ontier’s international growth and specialization strategy and reinforces the firm’s commitment to increasingly sophisticated advisory models, capable of responding to conflicts that transcend the strictly legal sphere and directly affect the strategy and business activity of clients.
Mercedes Romero, partner in charge of Ontier Disputes, commented that “international disputes are becoming increasingly complex and strategic. Companies simultaneously face proceedings in different jurisdictions, regulatory issues, reputational risks, and decisions that can directly affect their business and assets.”
He also emphasized that “in this context, technical excellence is essential, but it is no longer enough. Clients need teams capable of defining sound procedural strategies, understanding all the implications surrounding the conflict, and making decisions aligned with their business and strategic interests. Ontier Disputes was created precisely to offer this specialized and international approach.”
For his part, Javier Muñoz, International Director of Ontier, noted that “Ontier Disputes is a key component of Ontier’s international strategy and reflects our commitment to increasingly integrated and specialized global structures. This unit allows us to strengthen coordination between offices and consolidate an internationally aligned way of working, combining local knowledge, a global vision, and the ability to operate across borders.”
