The international legal and tax services firm Garrigues and the Chilean firm Barros, Silva, Varela & Vigil (BSVV), a multi-service law firm with more than a decade of experience in the Chilean legal market, have reached an agreement to integrate their practices in Chile, which will operate under the Garrigues brand.
In the coming weeks, the contractual documentation will be finalized and the agreement will be submitted to the respective partners’ meetings.
The integration of both firms, which are highly complementary in their advisory approach and market positioning, will consolidate a leading law firm in Chile, with a team of over 130 lawyers (including 24 partners) and the capacity to provide comprehensive advice in all areas of business law. Furthermore, the transaction will generate significant synergies stemming from the combination of Garrigues’ international strength with BSVV’s in-depth knowledge of the Chilean market, strategic vision, and technical expertise. All 11 partners of BSVV will join the Garrigues partnership.
With this integration, Garrigues reinforces its commitment to Chile amid the country’s economic recovery, characterized by moderate growth but supported by solid fundamentals and positive prospects. The transaction will also consolidate the firm’s position in Latin America, providing its clients with a single platform for regional and cross-border advisory services.
Garrigues’ commitment to Latin America is strategic. With offices in Chile, Colombia, Mexico, and Peru, the firm has over 50 years of experience in the region. Its one-stop-shop model allows it to coordinate cross-border projects and operations with the support of an international network in 12 countries across 4 continents.
In 2025, Garrigues reported revenues of €527.69 million. Its international business, representing over 17% of total revenue, grew by 44.5% compared to the previous year. The main milestone of the year was the integration of Sánchez Devanny into Garrigues Mexico.
