INTERVIEW

Mafalda Barreto, of Gómez-Acebo & Pombo: “Clients no longer look only for lawyers; they look for strategic partners”

Balder expects to generate €28.8 million in revenue in 2025, 5% more than the previous year.

Balder continues its upward trajectory. Founded in 2012 with an initial team of nine people, the firm has reached a turnover of €28.8 million in 2025, representing an increase of just over 5% compared to the previous year.

At a time when much of the sector is advancing through investment funds or the integration of other firms, Balder stands out for having built its growth entirely organically. In these 14 years, the firm has not resorted to external capital or the acquisition of other firms, thus consolidating its own unique and sustainable model based on professional excellence, client trust, and the strength of its team.

This growth has occurred without the need to expand the workforce to support the increase in revenue, thanks to the implementation of AI agents, reflecting the firm’s commitment to innovation. These agents have enabled the automation of administrative processes and the continuous improvement of internal efficiency. In parallel, the firm continues its push for diversity and representation, with an increase in female representation on the team, which now reaches 81.5% of the workforce. Currently, Balder has 103 professionals, including 10 partners and 21 associates, reflecting its sustained growth over just over a decade.

With a global reach, Balder serves national and international clients and boasts a multicultural team of professionals from over 15 nationalities who are fluent in 12 languages. In Spain, it has offices in Madrid, Barcelona, Bilbao, and Santander, and in Latin America in Mexico, Colombia, Brazil, Argentina, and Peru. The company promotes a hybrid work model that combines in-office and remote work from various locations across Spain, Europe, and Latin America.

In recent years, Balder has strengthened its position in leading industry rankings, such as IAM, WTR, MIP Stars, Chambers, Expansión Jurídico, etc. Since 2020, it has also been included in the prestigious Financial Times ranking, a recognition that endorses its growth, stability, and professional excellence.
