Andersen has appointed Juan Carpizo Bergareche as its new Tax Partner, responsible for the Iberian Local and Environmental Tax practice. This move represents a strategic boost for the firm, led by José Vicente Morote, as it consolidates the Tax department's Iberian focus and enhances its ability to advise on highly complex regulatory matters for large corporate groups, including IBEX 35 companies and multinationals with a strong presence in Spain.
With this addition, the firm takes another step in its specialization strategy, providing a high value-added technical vision that strengthens the competitiveness of its clients in the current market.
Juan Carpizo Bergareche, a former Tax and Finance Inspector, as well as a State Auditor, brings over 25 years of experience, including a distinguished 15-year period at national and international law firms. He is a leading expert in strategic tax advice and highly complex litigation before local and regional governments. His technical expertise is particularly evident in the energy and real estate sectors, where he has led projects related to sustainability, decarbonization, and the circular economy. This technical background is complemented by a strong commitment to teaching, as he is a regular speaker at leading forums and master's programs.
On the occasion of his arrival at Andersen Iberia, José Vicente Morote, managing partner, stated that “with his addition we are taking a qualitative leap in our growth and specialization strategy at the Iberian level” and added that “with his profile, we not only strengthen the Tax area, but also transform our ability to act in both countries in a coordinated manner, allowing us to anticipate solutions to the new challenges of a constantly changing environment.”
Andersen's Tax department, focused on strategic and complex advice
Comprised of 108 professionals, 24 of whom are partners, this department now strengthens its structure with this addition and advances in the development of an increasingly integrated work model that amplifies its responsiveness to an increasingly global and complex tax environment.
From this department, Andersen advises national and international companies on the analysis of the tax implications of their operations and on the design of solutions that combine legal certainty, efficiency and compliance, both in recurring tax management and in complex operations, including restructurings, due diligence processes, project finance and tax planning, with an approach aligned with the business and the sectoral and jurisdictional particularities.
