Ecija expands its innovation and transformation capabilities with the launch of the Tax Innovation area, integrated within Legal Innovation and led by María del Carmen González de Luis, who joins the firm from PwC Tax & Legal.
The new area, which will be part of the Legal Innovation discipline, is created with the aim of supporting large organizations in the comprehensive transformation of their tax functions, combining tax knowledge, strategy, processes, technology, data and artificial intelligence.
With this launch, Ecija extends its innovation and transformation model to the tax field, expanding a proposal that connects the Legal and Tax functions and responds to the growing need of organizations to evolve towards more efficient, technological, data-oriented and business-connected models.
At the head of this new capacity will be María del Carmen González de Luis, a lawyer with more than 12 years of experience advising large national and international groups, IBEX 35 listed companies and multinationals from different sectors on corporate taxation projects, tax governance and transformation of the tax function.
Formerly with PwC Tax & Legal, González de Luis has extensive experience advising on multidisciplinary projects related to tax strategy and governance, transformation of operating models, digitalization, TaxTech and adoption of generative artificial intelligence.
The creation of Tax Innovation reinforces Ecija’s strategy of integrating innovation and artificial intelligence across its service delivery model, developing new capabilities that combine legal and tax expertise, consulting, technology and transformation to comprehensively address the main challenges of its clients.
According to Alejandro Touriño, CEO of Ecija, “we are building a firm where innovation and artificial intelligence permeate all our areas and transform the way we support our clients. The launch of Tax Innovation represents another step in that direction and allows us to extend to the tax field a transformation model that we are already driving through Legal Innovation. The addition of Carmen, with her exceptional combination of tax knowledge, business acumen, and experience in technology and transformation, will allow us to build a truly differentiated offering for tax departments.”
For her part, María del Carmen González de Luis pointed out that “the tax function is evolving towards an increasingly strategic model, in which good tax governance, technology, and innovation play a key role. In this context, technology, and especially artificial intelligence, are opening up new possibilities to redefine not only how tax teams work, but also the value they can bring to organizations.”
