PONS IP announced the appointment of Iván Sempere as its new deputy general manager, focused on the execution of the company’s growth plans and the development of new business opportunities.
Working directly with the CEO, Sempere will assume a strategic role, particularly focused on business development and presence in key markets, sales management, institutional representation, and the coordination of multidisciplinary teams. His arrival will contribute to strengthening the execution of the corporate strategic plan and consolidating the organization’s national and international reach.
Following his appointment, Sempere emphasized that “the IP sector is undergoing a profound transformation that will impact not only how we protect and defend IP, but also how we advise and serve our clients. Therefore, IP firms must evolve their services and methodologies to enhance their excellence, incorporating the necessary technologies to become more efficient. Iván Sempere has a solid professional track record in the field of Industrial and Intellectual Property. After working at the Spanish Patent and Trademark Office (OEPM), he was a founding partner and Co-CEO of PADIMA (1998 – June 2026). He holds a PhD in Commercial Law from the University of Alicante, where he was appointed honorary professor after more than a decade of teaching at the Faculty of Law. Beyond his significant contributions to business and academic institutional representation (he was European President of Young Entrepreneurs and President of the University-Business Foundation FUNDEUN).
She brings over 30 years of experience in the Industrial and Intellectual Property sector, and her strategic and cross-cutting vision in the design and management of comprehensive Industrial and Intellectual Property strategies is highly recognized.
Throughout his career he has supported national and international companies from different sectors and geographies in making strategic decisions related to their intangible assets, helping to turn industrial and intellectual property into a lever for competitiveness, differentiation and business growth.
His profile combines professional practice with a distinguished institutional, academic, and outreach career. He has chaired the Design Committee of the International Trademark Association (INTA) and currently serves on its Board of Directors, as well as its Planning and Programming Advisory Council. Sempere is particularly recognized for his expertise in designing global strategies for the protection and defense of industrial designs, and has therefore been appointed to the recently established European Design Observatory, managed by the EUIPO.
In this field he is also an expert of the European Union appointed to EU cooperation projects, as well as coordinator of ASIPI Strategic Design, a working group of the Latin American Association of Industrial Property created to contribute to the legislative evolution of design regulations in LATAM.
At the national level, he is a member of the board of directors of the National Association for the Defense of Trademarks (ANDEMA). In the academic sphere, he is a frequent speaker at conferences, universities, business schools, and master’s programs in Spain, Europe, the United States, and Latin America, with over one hundred presentations and publications focused on innovation, design, intangible asset protection, and business strategy.
