By Heidi Maldonado

Veirano Advogados announced the arrival of Paulo Macedo Garcia as a new partner in the Dispute Resolution practice, based in the São Paulo office. This appointment strengthens the firm’s Arbitration practice and aligns with its strategy to expand its presence in a priority market, contributing to its investment in strategic areas for its clients.

“We are very pleased to have Paulo back on board. He combines technical excellence, business acumen, and a highly collaborative profile—characteristics that reflect Veirano’s culture and will contribute to our growth in the coming years,” said Paula Surerus, managing partner.

“Paulo brings a unique expertise in arbitration, built over a career marked by handling high-profile disputes. His arrival represents a significant boost to our team in São Paulo and further enhances Veirano’s ability to advise clients on strategic matters,” noted Filipe Scherer, partner in the Dispute Resolution practice.

More from the new partner

With extensive experience in highly complex arbitration and litigation disputes, both in Brazil and abroad, Paulo has handled high-profile cases involving diverse sectors of the economy, including infrastructure, insurance, sanitation, healthcare, franchises, education, agrochemicals, pulp and paper, and mining, as well as corporate and business arbitrations. He also served as an advisor to justices of the Superior Court of Justice (STJ) and the Supreme Federal Court (STF). Between 2011 and 2012, he was part of Veirano’s team and now returns to the firm at a new stage in his professional career.

Paulo holds a Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctorate in Law from the University of São Paulo (USP) and an LL.M. from Columbia University School of Law. He is currently a director of the Brazilian Arbitration Committee (CBAr) and is on the lists of arbitrators for the CAM-CCBC and CAMARB.

In addition to Paulo, Veirano Thiago Martins will also join as an associate, and Luisa Saboya, as a full lawyer.
