Peruvian law firm Moar Abogados strengthens its transactional practice with the addition of Álvaro Carrasco

By Heidi Maldonado

Moar Abogados, as part of its strategy to strengthen its advisory services in corporate operations, financing, and highly complex transactions, has added Álvaro Carrasco Benavides, former Vice President of Legal, Compliance & ESG at Camposol, as a partner. His arrival brings to the firm 10 years of experience at top law firms and in-house expertise in board decisions and multi-jurisdictional business transactions.

The firm noted that Carrasco’s addition will allow him to apply the experience gained from within a global company to private practice and support companies with a vision that integrates the legal, financial, operational, and reputational aspects of their decisions.

More from Álvaro Carrasco Benavides

Carrasco has over 15 years of experience in corporate and financial law, capital markets, mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, regulatory compliance, and sustainability. At Moar Abogados, he will advise companies, shareholders, and boards of directors on financing, acquisitions, corporate reorganizations, and risk management related to strategic transactions.

During his time at Camposol, he led legal, compliance, and ESG matters in 13 jurisdictions and managed a team of up to 15 professionals. Key transactions under his management include a US$400 million club deal with IFC, IDB Invest, Rabobank, BBVA, and Scotiabank; a US$350 million international bond issuance; a US$250 million syndicated loan; and the first US$30 million green credit line for the agricultural sector.

Before joining Camposol, the new partner developed his career at Payet, Rey, Cauvi, Pérez; Rodrigo, Elías & Medrano; and Delmar-Ugarte, now PPU, where he participated in financing operations, restructurings, insolvencies, capital markets, M&A and project finance.

He is a lawyer from the University of Lima, graduating magna cum laude, and holds an LL.M. in Corporate Law and Securities Law from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). He was also recognized on The Legal 500’s GC Powerlist Peru in 2023 and 2024.

With this addition, Moar Abogados expands its capabilities to support complex corporate and financial transactions that require integrating legal, regulatory, financial and sustainability criteria.
