The international law firm Stephenson Harwood LLP has opened its Madrid office with a team of eight partners, led by Juan Oñate, the firm’s managing partner in Spain. This opening strengthens the firm’s presence in Europe and expands its capacity to serve national and international clients with interests in Spain. The Madrid office is a key component of the firm’s growth and development strategy, which seeks to establish itself as one of the leading law firms in Europe, the Middle East, and Asia.
Stephenson Harwood’s Madrid office will feature a team of lawyers with complementary profiles and experiences. This team combines high-level expertise in corporate and financial transactions with a solid practice in litigation and arbitration, and an initial focus on sectors such as private equity, funds, energy transition and infrastructure, in line with the firm’s international strategy. The team has extensive experience in mergers and acquisitions, tax law, real estate, finance, restructurings and insolvencies, special situations and litigation.
“We are very excited about the opening of our office in Spain, where we have assembled a team of highly experienced lawyers with an excellent reputation in the market,” said Eifion Morris, CEO of Stephenson Harwood. “The office has strategic locations in Europe, the Middle East, and Asia, where our clients invest and where they need us most,” added Morris. “Spain attracts international investment, particularly in areas such as technology and energy transition, and is an important market for many of our clients. The opening of our Madrid office represents a natural step in our international strategy. For Spanish clients, we offer an international platform combined with an agile model, led by local partners.”
“What makes this launch truly special is the team of partners we have assembled,” said Juan Oñate, managing partner of Stephenson Harwood in Spain. “Each of them brings with them vast legal experience and a solid reputation in their respective areas of expertise, and together we share a commitment to providing comprehensive, high-quality advice. Being part of an international firm means we can offer clients in Spain direct access to global expertise while maintaining the personal and local approach they value.”
Located at Paseo de la Castellana, 55, Stephenson Harwood’s new office in Madrid has capacity for 45 professionals.
The launch of the Madrid office is supported by a team of eight partners with complementary profiles and solid track records in their respective areas of expertise. In addition to Juan Oñate, managing partner of Stephenson Harwood in Spain and head of the restructuring, insolvency and special situations department, the following partners join the firm: Jesús Almoguera, as litigation and arbitration partner; Carmen Alonso, as corporate/mergers and acquisitions and restructuring partner; Antonio Caneva, as banking and finance partner; and Carlos González, as litigation and arbitration partner.
