The American company Gibson Dunn announced the opening of its office in Madrid, in the heart of Azca, at number 11 Plaza Pablo Ruiz Picasso, a step that consolidates the company’s European expansion and reinforces its presence in one of the most active transaction markets on the continent.

The firm is led by partner Armando Albarrán, considered one of Spain’s leading corporate lawyers. He is assisted by consultants Alfonso Bernar, Asís Martín de Cabiedes and Reka Palla, as well as associates Alberto Broseta and Mario Pacini.

“The opening in Madrid reflects our commitment to being where our clients need us most,” said Barbara Becker, president and managing partner of the firm. “Spain is a key market for private equity funds, multinationals and financial institutions that conduct sophisticated transactions on both sides of the Atlantic. With a top-tier team in Madrid, we are well-positioned to offer local expertise and impeccable cross-border support, backed by the strength of our global platform.”

The Madrid office brings together a team with extensive experience in mergers and acquisitions – both public and private – private equity and capital markets, including IPOs and debt issuances, in sectors such as energy, infrastructure, real estate, telecommunications and financial services.

“Spain is one of the most active European markets for private equity, large-scale deals, and international transactions. Our connectivity with London, continental Europe, the United States, the Middle East, and Asia allows clients to leverage the full strength of Gibson Dunn’s global platform in every transaction,” said Armando Albarrán.

The Madrid office is Gibson Dunn’s seventh in Europe. Its opening follows the Zurich office last year and joins already established offices in Brussels, Frankfurt, Munich and Paris, as well as the London office, where the firm has more than doubled in size: from 100 lawyers in 2020 to over 200 currently.
