Squire Patton Boggs appoints Andrew Wilkinson as managing partner for Europe

By Heidi Maldonado

Squire Patton Boggs announced the appointment of Andrew Wilkinson as its new managing partner for Europe. He will replace Jonathan Jones, effective May 1, 2026.

“Andrew is a respected leader whose deep understanding of our business and our clients will be critical as we continue to strengthen the firm and deliver expert, confident advice worldwide,” said Global Chairman and CEO Mark Ruehlmann. “As part of our global leadership team, he will play a central role in positioning the firm for sustained success, while ensuring the close cross-border collaboration that characterizes our organization.”

“I also want to express my sincere gratitude to Jonathan for his dedication and commitment as managing partner for Europe. During his tenure, he has helped drive sustained year-on-year growth and has played a key role in developing our strategic areas and improving the firm’s performance. Thanks to his leadership, we are a stronger firm today.”

Wilkinson has been a partner in the London office since 2003 and currently serves as the European head of the Intellectual Property and Technology (IP&T) practice group. He advises UK and international companies on commercial matters, with particular expertise in technology deals. His practice spans multiple sectors, including technology, artificial intelligence, telecommunications, fintech, healthcare, advertising, sports, and hospitality and leisure.

“It is an honor to assume this role at such an exciting time of growth for our firm,” said Wilkinson. “Spain plays a vital role in our integrated global offering, serving as a key hub for both our European and Latin American platform and for cross-border client advice. Our Madrid office combines deep local knowledge with the strength of our international network, enabling us to provide seamless, high-quality service to our clients wherever they operate. I look forward to continuing to invest in Spain and building on the solid foundation we have already established.”

The firm has recorded significant growth in key areas in the UK and Europe. This momentum includes the addition of high-level teams and lateral hires, particularly in the Corporate and Private Equity, Financial Services, and Litigation practices; the expansion into new areas of specialization in Europe, such as environmental regulation and white-collar crime; and the geographic expansion of its global platform with the opening of new offices in Amsterdam, Astana, Baku, Dublin, and Geneva.
