Mattos Filho announced the addition of Fábio Perez as a new partner in its Banking and Finance practice. A specialist in the regulations of the Central Bank of Brazil and the National Monetary Council, Perez focuses on regulatory matters, combining his strong legal background with experience in financial and payment institutions to offer dynamic legal solutions tailored to a highly regulated environment.
Perez’s arrival comes at a time when financial operations in Brazil are reaching increasingly sophisticated levels. His addition strengthens an internationally recognized Banking and Finance practice, distinguished by its technical rigor, deep understanding of market players, and constant dialogue with Brazilian regulatory bodies.
“Adding partners in strategic areas contributes to our long-term vision and ensures that we can support the growth of the sectors in which we operate, responding to increasingly complex client demands”, said Pedro Whitaker de Souza Dias, managing partner of Mattos Filho. With the addition of Perez, the firm now has 141 partners.
“I have built my career at the intersection of banking regulation and debt finance, and joining Mattos Filho at this time represents a fundamental step in that journey. It is an honor to be part of one of the most prestigious law firms in Latin America and to contribute to a team that sets the standard in the legal market”, Perez concluded.
Regulation and financing: a convergent path
Fábio Perez holds a law degree from the Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo and a postgraduate degree in Financial and Capital Markets Law from Insper. In 2025, he was recognized as a Leading Associate by the British legal directory Legal 500.
His experience encompasses authorization procedures before the Central Bank of Brazil, including the incorporation of regulated entities, changes in shareholding structure, and corporate reorganizations. He also advises on mergers and acquisitions and securities offerings, structuring of financial products, foreign exchange and international capital regulations, and participates in both domestic and cross-border financing transactions, including bilateral and syndicated loans, trade finance, debt restructurings, and international bond issuances.
