Fieldfisher has strengthened its regulatory practice in Brussels with the addition of Hendrik Viaene as a partner in the Competition practice and Bobby Arash as a partner in the Regulation team. These appointments are part of the firm’s strategy to further consolidate its regulatory and competition team at the European level.
Hendrik Viaene has extensive experience in European Union and Belgian competition law, as well as regulated markets and regulatory law. Throughout his career, he has advised on matters such as state aid, cartels, licensing agreements, international merger control, M&A transactions, abuse of dominant position, distribution agreements, the Foreign Subsidies Regulation, and Belgian foreign investment control.
She regularly represents companies and public authorities before the European Commission, the Court of Justice of the European Union, and national competition authorities, and has advised clients in merger authorization proceedings in various jurisdictions. She has worked with clients in sectors such as energy, chemicals, financial services, and technology.
It incorporates the Fieldfisher from McDermott Emery y Schulte.
Bobby Arash brings over 20 years of regulatory experience, gained in European institutions, Swedish national authorities, and industry. His practice focuses on advising on EU regulations and applicable national regimes, including those for the chemical, biocide, agrochemical, cosmetic, medical device, food, ICT, and defense sectors. He is particularly recognized for his science-based regulatory approach, with expertise in EU law, environmental law, EHS, and data protection.
In addition to her work on pan-European mandates, she maintains an active practice in Sweden, where she advises manufacturers and innovators on issues related to product regulation, environmental regulations, market access and regulatory compliance in the supply chain.
