The international law firm Eversheds Sutherland has appointed Luis Suárez de Centi Martínez as a new partner in the Tax practice of its Spanish office. With this appointment, the firm strengthens one of its strategic areas of expertise in Spain, which is experiencing strong growth. The practice now comprises two partners, one counsel, two associates, and one trainee. This addition enhances the firm’s tax advisory capabilities in a landscape marked by uncertainty and evolving regulations.
Tax lawyer Luis Suárez de Centi has extensive experience and a solid international track record in advising large corporate groups, private equity funds, and high-net-worth individuals on tax matters. Throughout his career, he has provided ongoing advice on the tax implications of complex real estate transactions, the tax and corporate aspects of international M&A deals, the restructuring of corporate and family groups—particularly in Spain and Latin America—and the tax planning of cross-border investments (both for foreign investments in Spain and for Spanish investments abroad).
Luis has also advised on tax inspections and tax litigation proceedings before the Administration and the courts and regularly provides advice to large fortunes and family groups on matters relating to the tax planning of their investments in Spain or international transfers of residence.
Prior to joining Eversheds Sutherland, Luis developed his professional career at Uría Menéndez, where he served as head of the tax department of the New York office between 2018 and 2024. During that period he led tax advice to clients with interests in the United States, Europe and Latin America, consolidating his strong international profile and his specialization in international taxation and complex cross-border transactions.
Jacobo Martínez, managing partner of Eversheds Sutherland in Spain, stated that “Luis is a highly prestigious professional with a global vision of tax advice and proven experience in complex and high value-added transactions, so his arrival strengthens our ability to support international and national clients in increasingly sophisticated projects”.
For his part, Luis Suárez de Centi stated that “the firm’s strong presence in Spain, its clearly international focus, the technical expertise of its teams, and its commitment to sustainable growth perfectly align with my approach to the practice of law”. He added, “I am embarking on this new chapter with great enthusiasm and with the goal of contributing to the development of the Tax practice and providing comprehensive service to the firm’s clients”.
