Basham Ringe y Correa strengthens its Criminal Law and Intellectual Property practices with Mario Uribe

Mexican firm Basham, Ringe y Correa announced the expansion of its Criminal Law and Intellectual Property practices with the addition of Mario Uribe as a partner in its Mexico City office.

“Mario brings extensive experience in handling sophisticated, high-impact criminal and intellectual property litigation,” said Alejandro Catalá, partner at Basham, Ringe y Correa. “His arrival further strengthens our capabilities in criminal law, litigation, and intellectual property, reinforcing Basham’s position as a market leader in these areas”.

More about Mario Uribe

Mario Uribe is a criminal defense attorney who has represented national and international clients in federal and state criminal proceedings. His practice encompasses both defense and victim representation in high-profile cases.

He is recognized for developing litigation strategies often supported by specialized legislation in areas such as health, the environment, and intellectual property, enabling him to offer comprehensive, results-oriented solutions. In addition, Mario advises clients on the design and implementation of criminal compliance and anti-money laundering programs, with a focus on risk prevention and management. Mario has led and overseen intellectual property enforcement actions, including more than 40 operations in a single year and the seizure and destruction of illegal merchandise valued at tens of millions of dollars. One of his achievements has been strengthening the prosecution of intellectual property crimes in Mexico, enabling clients to obtain fair compensation for damages.

He holds a Bachelor of Laws degree and a Master of Laws (LL.M.) with honors from Universidad Panamericana, and is currently a doctoral candidate. He is also a professor of Criminal Law at Universidad Panamericana, where he has taught since 2013. He is the author of “Criminal Law of Industrial Property” (Tirant Lo Blanch, 2022) and is a frequent speaker and moderator at national and international forums on criminal law and human rights.

Before joining Basham, Mario led the criminal law practice at a boutique intellectual property firm with offices in Mexico and Spain.
