Pérez-Llorca has appointed Joana Mota Agostinho as a partner in its Lisbon office, where she will lead the Intellectual Property and Technology practice, a new department dedicated to advising national and international clients undergoing technological and digital transformation.
Carlos Vaz de Almeida, managing partner of Pérez-Llorca in Portugal, said that “Joana joins us with highly specialised experience and is a leading professional in her field. Her appointment allows us to develop a distinct Intellectual Property and Technology practice in Portugal and, at the same time, strengthen our transactional teams in the most complex and highest value-added transactions.”
Her experience spans intellectual and industrial property, data protection and privacy, digital law, advertising and consumer law, and regulatory matters relating to electronic communications, media and cybersecurity. She has advised on digital transformation projects in the technology, banking, insurance, energy, healthcare and pharmaceutical sectors. Her arrival forms part of Pérez-Llorca’s growth strategy in Portugal and responds to the mounting regulatory challenges associated with innovation, data and the digitalisation of business.
She holds a law degree from the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon and an LL.M. in Communications and Information Technology Law from Queen Mary University of London. She is ranked by Chambers and Partners in TMT and by Legal 500 in Data Privacy and Data Protection. Before joining Pérez-Llorca, she was a partner at a leading law firm.
