The Andersen Iberia Foundation has launched the first edition of the Andersen Scalae University Scholarship Program. Each scholarship, worth €6,000 annually, aims to help young people aged 17 to 24 from Spain and Portugal access, continue their studies, and successfully complete official undergraduate university degrees. As José Vicente Morote, Managing Partner of Andersen Iberia and President of the Foundation, points out, “These scholarships reflect our commitment to equal opportunities, because we are convinced that a fairer and more competitive society is one that can identify, develop, and retain talent wherever it may be found, eliminating barriers that could limit its growth.”
The program will pay special attention to young people in situations of economic or social vulnerability, including students who are the first in their family to attend university, those from rural areas, those with disabilities, or those who have been under the guardianship of public authorities. The financial support is intended to cover expenses not funded by the public system, such as accommodation, living expenses, transportation, academic materials, internet access, and psychological support. Furthermore, the scholarship will be renewable based on continued academic performance.
“Talent shouldn’t be limited by one’s background,” stated Raúl Celda, manager of the Foundation, who explained that “we want to address the barriers that still prevent many young people from accessing university or completing their studies on equal terms.” The Foundation manager also highlighted the dual purpose of the scholarships: “It’s not just about providing financial aid, but also about supporting each student so they can fully develop their academic and professional potential.” In this regard, Andersen professionals will participate as mentors to the recipients, supporting them in their academic and professional development.
