Chilean law firms Villaseca Abogados and Fernández & Yuraszeck seal alliance in data protection and intellectual property

By Heidi Maldonado

Villaseca Abogados and Fernández & Yuraszeck announced the signing of a strategic alliance aimed at offering joint advice on personal data protection, technology and intellectual property, with the objective of responding to the new challenges that companies in Chile face in regulatory, reputational and business matters.

The agreement, finalized in recent weeks, combines Villaseca’s experience as a leading boutique firm in intellectual property and intangible asset protection with Fernández & Yuraszeck’s expertise in technology, privacy, and digital regulation. Through this partnership, both firms will work to support clients in designing and implementing strategies that integrate regulatory compliance, brand value protection, and risk management related to the use of data and emerging technologies.

The announcement comes at a particularly relevant time for the national market, marked by the entry into force of Law 21.719 on the Protection of Personal Data. This legislation raises the standard of governance for the processing of personal information, creates a Personal Data Protection Agency, and establishes a more robust sanctions regime. In this context, companies will not only have to review internal policies and processes, but also how they connect their data decisions with innovation, customer experience, corporate reputation, and the safeguarding of their intangible assets.

“At Villaseca Abogados, we assist companies in protecting their trademarks, patents, and other intellectual property assets. Today, personal data protection naturally complements this work, and this partnership allows us to offer an integrated and specialized solution to safeguard their key intangible assets,” explained Eduardo Molina, senior partner at Villaseca Abogados.

For his part, Nicolás Yuraszeck, partner at Fernández & Yuraszeck, noted that “the new regulatory phase is forcing organizations to move from a reactive approach to compliance to a more sophisticated management of their data and digital assets. This alliance aims precisely to provide practical, specialized advice aligned with the critical decisions that companies face today.”

Both firms agree that how companies protect and manage their data and intangible assets will be crucial to their competitiveness in the coming years. In this context, the alliance aims to offer comprehensive advisory services that connect the legal sphere with the investment, growth, and innovation decisions being made by companies across various sectors.
