Benito is an internationally renowned lawyer and Managing Partner of LEXINCORP Honduras, a full-service law firm with seven offices in Central America. With an outstanding track record in Corporate Law, Litigation, and Arbitration, Benito leads the Litigation and Arbitration practice, where he has handled high-profile disputes both nationally and internationally.
Academically, Benito holds a law degree from the Doctor José Matías Delgado University in El Salvador, an LL.M. in Business Law from the Catholic University of Chile, and a Master’s Degree in Business Management from the Central American Technological University of Honduras. He is also a doctoral candidate in Law at the University of San Carlos in Guatemala. His specialized training includes Civil Procedural Law, Mediation, and Arbitration from the University of Salamanca, as well as International Business from Georgetown University. He holds a Master’s degree in Commercial Arbitration and Investment from the University of Alcalá.
Benito has received advanced training in commercial, investment, and infrastructure arbitration, including FIDIC Contracts, PPPs, and the PIDA Advanced Training for Arbitrators, as well as the ICC Master Class for Litigators. His experience covers domestic and international arbitrations under ICC, UNCITRAL, LCIA, AAA, and ICSID rules, where he has participated as counsel and arbitrator in complex, high-value disputes related to infrastructure projects, energy, telecommunications, public-private partnerships, concessions, distribution contracts, corporate conflicts, and insurance.
Recognized as one of the leaders in Latin American arbitration, Benito has been included in The Legal 500’s Private Practice Powerlist Latin America 2023, recommended by Chambers and Partners in Dispute Resolution for seven consecutive years, and mentioned in Who’s Who Legal Central America in Dispute Resolution.
In addition to their extensive experience in litigation and arbitration, Benito and his team at LEXINCORP Honduras offer a full range of legal services, including advice on corporate law, mergers and acquisitions, banking and finance law, as well as the structuring of complex projects and infrastructure contracts. Benito has been a frequent speaker and panelist at national and international forums for more than ten years, and has co-authored the book Dispute Resolution in Construction Contracts in Latin America, contributing the article “Arbitration in Infrastructure Projects in Honduras.” He was a member of the Court of Arbitration of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) from 2018 to 2021, a delegate for Honduras in the ICC Arbitration Commission from 2021 to 2024, and the country’s representative to the Dispute Resolution Board Foundation and the Latin American Construction Law Association. He is also the founder and president of the Honduran Chapter of the Spanish and Ibero-American Arbitration Club and an active member of organizations such as the IBA, ALARB, ITA, LIA, and FIA, among others.
