Legora raises $550 million in a Series E funding round to accelerate its growth, valuing the company at $8.8 billion

By Heidi Maldonado

Legora, the agentic operating system for legal professionals, has announced it has raised $550 million in a Series E funding round, valuing the company post-money at $8.8 billion. The round was led by Atreides Management, with participation from new investors including Baron Capital, Capital Group, Fidelity Management & Research Company, Glade Brook Capital Partners, and JP Morgan. All major existing investors also participated, including Accel, Benchmark, Bessemer Venture Partners, General Catalyst, ICONIQ, Insight Venture Partners, Redpoint Ventures, Salesforce Ventures, and Sands Capital.

Legora has structured the round around investors with a long-term time horizon, bringing together established shareholders with strategic investors, institutions that work daily with law firms and legal advisors, and that have a close vision of where the legal sector is headed.

This funding round follows a period of rapid growth. Legora grew from $1 million to $100 million in annual recurring revenue (ARR) in less than 18 months, faster than any other enterprise software company with a direct sales model. The next $100 million was reached in less than six months. Annual recurring revenue (ARR) now exceeds $200 million. This new valuation contrasts sharply with the company’s previous $5.6 billion valuation.

Legal teams are moving from AI assistants to agents capable of performing multi-step tasks, and Legora’s offering and geographic footprint are expanding to meet this shift. In-house legal departments, which represented only a small fraction of Legora’s client base a year ago, accounted for more than 40% of new clients in the third quarter. Having opened its first office in the United States in the spring of 2025, Legora has already made the US its largest market in terms of revenue, with more than half of the firms in the AmLaw 50 among its clients.

“The opportunity in the legal sector is enormous, and we are still in the early stages. AI is changing the role of the lawyer, who now has more time for analysis and advice, and is redefining how law firms and legal practices are organized and how their work is carried out. We intend to lead that change both in the United States and globally. We have chosen investors who share our long-term vision and know what it takes to build a lasting company. They are the right partners for the coming years,” said Max Junestrand, CEO and co-founder of Legora.

The capital will support continued expansion in the Americas, where Legora has offices in New York, Denver, Chicago, Houston, San Francisco, Toronto, and Mexico City, as well as in its European and Asia-Pacific markets. It will also allow for increased investment in Legora aOS, the “agentic” operating system used by lawyers and their agents, enabling new products such as “agentic” case management, prospective analysis, and legal research.

“The legal sector is a sophisticated market with demanding clients, and the bar for software is set very high. Legora has become the platform that law firms and legal departments adopt and then extend across their entire organization, and it has done so while growing at a remarkable pace. Moreover, Legora has built a sustainable business throughout this process, with the discipline to scale quickly and maintain efficiency. We are delighted to support the team as Legora enters its next stage of growth in the US and globally,” said Gavin Baker, Managing Partner and Chief Investment Officer at Atreides.

Legora was founded in 2023 and launched its platform in October 2024. It currently has over 1,000 employees across 18 offices and is used by more than 140,000 legal professionals in over 2,400 leading law firms and in-house legal teams in more than 80 markets.

“Growth only matters if the underlying business remains strong. We’ve surpassed $200 million in annual recurring revenue (ARR), and we want every dollar of that to be sustainable. That means healthy gross margins, high retention rates, and a cost structure that strengthens as we grow. This funding round allows us to continue building on that foundation,” said David Eckstein, CFO of Legora.
