Squire Patton Boggs has appointed José Aguilar Shea, equity partner in the Madrid office, to its Legal Personnel Committee (LPC), the global body that advises the firm’s Board on strategic matters related to the recruitment, promotion, and professional development of its lawyers. Composed of 23 partners from various offices worldwide, Aguilar Shea’s appointment to the committee also marks the Madrid office’s entry into this body and reflects its growing importance within the firm’s international structure.
The LPC’s main responsibilities include advising on lawyer recruitment policies and criteria and internal processes for promotion to partner, as well as supervising and coordinating professional development mechanisms within the firm.
The committee thus plays a relevant role in the organic growth of Squire Patton Boggs, helping to define the profiles, capabilities and criteria that should guide both the incorporation of new professionals and the progression of lawyers within the organization.

José Aguilar Shea is a partner in the Tax Strategy & Benefits practice at Squire Patton Boggs in Madrid. He has extensive experience advising national and international companies and individuals on tax matters, particularly in structuring complex business and real estate transactions, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, and corporate reorganizations. He also advises high-net-worth individuals and family offices, and actively participates in cross-border transactions with Latin America as a member of the firm’s Latam Desk and Brazil Desk.
